Beaver Dam Regatta

We had a great day of racing at the Beaver Dam Regatta on Saturday. In the Master’s Women’s 8s, our boats were the only two in the event, but we raced at the same time as the Youth 8s and College Novice 8s. Both boats had a great race and got to walk through the other boats racing. In the Championship Mixed 8+, our team came in 1st, beating out the entry from NC State by almost a minute. The Men’s 2x had a solid finish coming in a close 3rd behind two boats from Raleigh. In the Men’s 1x, Yuri had a good race coming in 2nd out of 4 boats. The men’s 4+ was the only boat in their event, but got to row against boats from Triangle, Charlotte, NC State and Duke. The women’s 4+ came in 1st, beating the other entry by over a minute. Good racing all!

Summer Race Results

Capital Sprints

The team had a great weekend of racing in DC. On Saturday, we raced two singles, one double, two eights and one four at Capital Sprints. The full results are on Ronin Racing.

In the eights, both boats had excellent races, despite the large amount of debris in the water. The A boat came in 2nd in their heat and the B boat also came in 2nd in their heat. In the women’s four, after some clashing of blades at the start, our boat walked through another boat in the last 250 to eke out a 3rd place finish by 0.17 seconds.

Rob Kyle was undefeated on Saturday, placing 1st in the 1x and 1st in the mixed 2x with Kathryn Kyle.

Occoquan Masters Sprints

On Sunday we raced at Occoquan Masters Sprints with three singles, two eights, one double and one four. Full results are on Ronin Racing.

In the first events of the day, Avram Gold placed 2nd in the lightweight men’s single, Rob Kyle placed 3rd in the men’s single and Kathryn Kyle placed 4th in the women’s single.

In the women’s eight, the A boat placed 2nd in their heat and the B boat placed 4th in their heat. In the women’s four, our boat placed 4th in their heat.

Good racing this weekend to all. Many thanks to Emma and Kate for coming to cox and helping us have such a successful outing. Also, many thanks to Holly and Rob for driving the trailer safely to and from DC this weekend!
