Cold Weather Policies:
- Once the lake is closed, the combined air-water temperature rule goes into effect:
- For sweep pair and racing singles: USRowing recommends rowing in a combined air-water temperature of 90 degrees, where water temperature must be above 50F/10C degrees.
- For all boats: Air temperature must be above 32 degrees.
- When the water temperature is below 50F/10C, sculling boats are only allowed out when there is a launch or coxed boat on the water.
- The buddy system will go into effect once the lake is closed. A scheduling tool is being developed on the club’s website to assist rowers in finding a buddy to row with and identifying sweep boat practice times.
- For 911 emergencies, note that you must direct emergency personnel to the “Crew Parking” lot; and then meet them to show them down the path to the boathouse. Bob’s gate cannot be opened from the inside without a car.
- A tub in the boathouse contains 2-3 blankets, sweat suits, hat and gloves.
- There are team-owned fanny pack life preservers, which are hanging near the sculling log.
Warm Weather Policies:
No rowing when the heat index is above 100 degrees F.
Severe Weather Policies:
No rowing during high winds, tornado warnings or watches. If thunder is heard, everyone must leave the water. To launch, there must not have been any thunder for at least 20 minutes.
